Mr. Woodrow Cecil, 92, of Clearfield, passed away Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 17, 1925 in Menifee County, Kentucky, a son of the late David Albert Cecil and Martha Donahue Cecil.
Mr. Cecil was a mechanic having owned and operated Woody’s Transmission Shop for 60 years.
He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II and he attended the Dan Ridge Church of Christ.
Woodrow was a Kentucky Colonel, a life-long member of the National Rifle Association and he enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathleen Cecil Cook, who passed away on August 17, 2017 and two brothers, William Russell Cecil and Jessee “Buck” Cecil.
Survivors include his wife, Joy Molton Cecil, whom he married on August 18, 1962 and one daughter, Vanessa (Larry Joe) Stevens of Morehead.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 25, 2017 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Cecil Ison and Brother Johnny Hatfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is after 6 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Glen Owens, John Steagall, James Gilliam, Larry Hickman, Kevin Callahan, Darrell Thompson, Mark Stevens and Daniel Stevens.
