Wilma Ruth Stevens McKeown

Wilma Ruth Stevens McKeown, 91, of Griffith, Indiana passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2024.  She was born in Carter County, Kentucky, on November 28, 1932, to the late Allie R. Thomas and Goldie Williams Thomas.

Throughout her life, Wilma found joy in simple pleasures such as yard and housework, cherishing moments with her family, creating intricate embroideries, cooking, and finding solace in her faith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Norman Stevens, as well as her second husband, William McKeown, six brothers, Gary Thomas, Don Thomas, Etris Thomas, Bobby Thomas, Billy Thomas, and Jim Thomas, and six sisters, Kay Hall, Joanne Day, Millie Bailey, Ruby Stevens, Juanita Lyons, and Freda Thomas. Wilma's upbringing in a large and caring family undoubtedly shaped the compassionate woman she became.

 Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn (Mario) Torres, one brother, Roger Thomas. Her five grandchildren - Brian (Debbie) Hernandez, Melissa (Mike) Brothers, Cordero (Adriana) Torres, Wilma (Greg) Radham, and Henry Esquivel - will always remember their grandmother's warmth and affection. Additionally, Wilma is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Michaela Brothers, McKenna Brothers, Angel Torres, Dillon Snow, Maddie Snow, Noah Radham, and Chris Radham who will hear stories of their loving great-grandmother for years to come.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead, Kentucky. A funeral service will follow on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the same location. Wilma will be laid to rest New Sill Cemetery in Morehead following the service.
