Mr. William R. (Bill) Tufts, Age 70 of 252 Veterans Lane, Morehead, passed away Friday, August 6, 2010 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Floyd County, Kentucky on September 5, 1939 to the late William S. and Lucille Smith Tufts.
In addition to his parents he was peceded in death by a brother Richard Tufts.
Mr. Tufts was retired from General Telephone Company where he worked as a installer/repairman. He was also an Artist and Sign Painter. Mr. Tufts was a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Elliottville Fire Department and enjoyed Woodworking, Painting, Motorcycles, Aviation and Winemaking as a hobby.
He was also a veteran of the United States Army.
For many years he was an American Red Cross Blood Donor and had over the years donated over 25 gallons of blood.
Survivors include his wife Martha Jones Tufts who he married on December 28, 1968. One daughter, Sharon Purnell of Morehead and one son Tom Tufts of Fleming County.
One brother Terry Tufts of Melvin, Kentucky and Two sisters, Evelyn Bunting of Salvisa, Kentucky and Lenora Weaver of Washington Court House, Ohio.
Six grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Sunday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Clayton Hanshaw officiating.
Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 4:00 P.M. Saturday.
Military rites will be conducted immediately after the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home.
Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Jones Family Cemetery on Riley's Branch in Bevinsville, Kentucky with Terry Issac officiating.
Pall Bearers will be Wayne Johnson, James Oney, Eddie Horton, Kenneth Adkins, Kenny Adkins, Aaron Riggsby and Ethan Johnson.
Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is caring for all arrangements for Mr. William R. (Bill) Tufts.
