Wendell "Whitey" Baldridge, 72, of Clearfield passed away Saturday, December 8, 2007 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington from complications of a stroke.
He was born on May 17, 1935 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Oscar and Linda Click Baldridge.
Wendell was a retired truck foreman for Ken-Mor Stone. He was a United States Army Veteran, a member of the Upper Dry Creek Church of God, the International Hot Rod Association and he was an honorary Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, drag racing, boating and riding his motorcycle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jewell May Baldridge and Ethel Dulin.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sizemore Baldridge of Clearfield, one son, Robert Dean Huff and his wife, Treva of Jackson, two daughters, Belinda Dawn Purnell and her husband, Scotty of Clearfield and Amy Nicole Blackford and her husband, Doug of Nicholasville, five grandchildren, Robert Dean Huff II, Jameson Kyle Huff, Whitney Nicole Purnell, Jayla Renee Purnell and Barron Thomas Blackford, one brother-in-law, Noah Dulin of Las Vegas, Nevada and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Rev. Herbert D. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Herb Hyatt, Charles Maggard, Matthew Hamilton, Bill Bailey, Jimmy Hunt, Jackie Jent, Ray Crisp, Wayne Jent, Johnny Kissinger and Shane Dennis. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Brown, Avery Alfrey and Billy Templeman.
