Morehead

Walter Gullett Jr., age 76, of Morehead, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord in the early hours of Monday, December 13, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born to the late Walter and Freda Gullett of Ashland, Kentucky on July 25, 1945.

Walt was a graduate of Boyd County High School in Ashland, Kentucky, and went on to serve his country for 3 years in the United States Air Force.  He was a Vietnam War Veteran, where he served as a jet mechanic and was a member of the sixth man quick reaction force.

After being Honorably discharged, he worked various jobs before becoming a truck driver for Ashland Oil/Marathon for 39 years.

Later in life, Walt enjoyed riding motorcycles, a hobby he took up after retirement.  He so loved being on the open road and sharing a special bond and friendship with his “Bike Buddies”.  He and his loving wife of 52 years, Lois, also took great pleasure in going for drives just to see this great country that God had laid before them.

Walt was a Christian that truly loved serving the Lord and his church.  He was a dedicated member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Morehead.  Walt and Lois cherished the time spent with special friends and church members.

Besides his wife, Lois, he is survived by his daughter, Gwen (Todd) Haas of Sellersburg, Indiana, a son, Eric (Amber) Gullett of Falls Branch, Tennessee, two granddaughters, Amanda and Olivia, a brother, Roger (Onedia) Gullett of Ashland, Kentucky, and a sister, Judy (Kelly) Yates of Ashland, Kentucky.  Also, a host of other family and friends.

Many will say that Walt will truly be missed.
