Virgil V. Cooper, 90, of Flemingsburg, passed away Monday, February 5, 2018, at Pioneer Trace Nursing Home.
Born January 22, 1928, in Rowan County, he was the son of the late Venton and Etta Stigall Cooper.
Virgil was a retired famer and carpenter. He enjoyed raising tobacco and cattle. He also enjoyed refinishing furniture and loved antiques.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Jo “Tiny” Brown Cooper; his son, Jerry Lee Cooper and wife Delois of Morehead; his daughter, Kathy Harding and husband Robert of Maysville; and his granddaughter, Mary Beth Harding (Dave Keane) of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his brother, Vernon Cooper and his sister, Bessie Butler, both of Bellefontaine, OH; several nephews; and a special nephew, Tom (Peggy) Cooper of Morehead.
In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his siblings, Cora Artis, Ervin Cooper, and Mervin Cooper; and his mother-in-law, Laura Brown.
Services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 8th, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Rev. James Paul Humphries officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Pallbearers include Tom Cooper, Andrew Cooper, Robert Harding, and Eddie Vice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Pioneer Trace Activity Fund (115 Pioneer Trace, Flemingsburg, KY 41041).
