Velda Adkins

Velda Conley Adkins, 89, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007 at the residence of her daughter in Clearfield, Kentucky.

She was born on September 14, 1917 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Wiley Jefferson Conley and Amanda Alice Williams Conley.

Mrs. Adkins was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of United Baptist at Hayes Branch for over 50 years. She was baptized in April 1956. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning and was known as a good cook.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Casie Adkins who passed away on February 27, 1996, one son, Ray Adkins who passed away in 1991, an infant daughter, Betty Norene Adkins, three brothers, William David Conley, Russell Warner Conley and Clyde Conley, three sisters, Pearl Conley Hall, Mary Sparks and Betty White.

Survivors include one son, Zora Adkins of Morehead, one daughter, Barbara Young of Clearfield, one brother Sylvester Conley of Tennessee, seven grandchildren, Lowell Duane Adkins, Joel Ray RochAC.t, Beverly Jo Reber, Marsha Joan Conn, Jeffrey Scott Adkins, Joyce Janiene Stevens and Jamie Lynn Adkins and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Elder Owen Cox, Elder Lewis Baire, Elder Oathar Messer and Brother Clayton Marshall officiating. Burial was in the Conley Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Barbara Young, Steve Young, Joel RochAC.t, Jeff Adkins, Beverly Reber, Duane Adkins, Kevin Reber and Joan Conn.
