Thelma Jean Thornsberry Bumgardner, 80, of Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia.
She was born on October 17, 1940 in Morgan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Lonnie and Clacy Parker Thornsberry.
Thelma was a hairdresser and had retired from Morehead State University after 21 years of service as housekeeper at the President’s House. She had also worked at St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
She was a member of the Johnson First Church of God and the Rowan County Senior Citizens. She volunteered at the Blood Mobile and enjoyed crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifton Harold Wallace, her second husband, Elwood Bumgardner, two sisters, Ruby Wallace and Marie Lewis and one grandson, Clifton Ray Wallace.
Survivors include one daughter, Marquetta Ann Baber (Joe) of South Charleston, West Virginia, one son, Dwain Allen Wallace (Denise) of Clearfield, step-son, Steve Bumgardner (Charlotte) of Morehead, special friend, Noah Stidam of Morehead, three brothers, Delbert Thornsberry of Monroe, Ohio, Edgar Thornsberry of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Donald Thornsberry of Owingsville, three sisters, Della Miller of West Elkton, Ohio, Ava Jennings of Florida and Marlene Crose of Morehead, five grandchildren, Kacie Wallace Smith (E. J.), Justin Harold Wallace, Erin Lands (Nathan), Morgan Bowden and Nicholas “Nikko” Bowden, four step-grandchildren, Joey James, Brandon James, Jim Andy Bumgardner and Holley Jo Nester (Rob), four great-grandchildren, William Eric Smith III, Bailey Nicole Smith, Emory Elizabeth Lands and James Roy Bowden, four step-great-grandchildren, Kyla Bumgardner, Kenna Bumgardner, Griffin Bumgardner and Brock Nester and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Ben Furman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Scoville, Rodney Wallace, Tony Wallace, Randy Wallace, Brian Wallace, Scott Jennings, Sr., Jamie Crose and Marty Crose.
