Mr. Tex R. Johnson, 72, of Elliott County, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2013 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born on June 27, 1941, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Festus and Arlena Porter Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was retired from the Rowan County School System and was a former employee of St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church and enjoyed raising a garden, horses, his dogs, Wendy, Sam and Joe and his cat, Bibbie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Johnson Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Heath Johnson, whom he married on February 9, 1977, one son, Jeffrey Butts and his companion, Susan Granger of Morehead, one daughter, Dianna Trusty of Morehead, three grandchildren, Christopher Trusty, Christina Butts and Jeremy Trusty, eleven great-grandchildren, nephew, Danny Smith of Dayton, Ohio and great-nephew, Elijah Smith of Dayton, Ohio.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 16, 2013 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Sturgill and Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Christopher Trusty, Don Arnold Williams, Brent Barnett, Ray Bailey and Steve Johnson.
Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Sunday.
