Talmadge Catron

Mr. Talmadge Catron, 88, of Morehead, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2020 at St. Claire HealthCare.

He was born on February 20, 1931 in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Henry “Buck” and Geneva Lambert Catron.

Mr. Catron was retired from Morehead State University and he had formerly worked at Empire Steel in Mansfield, Ohio and at Lee Clay in Clearfield, Kentucky.

He was a member of the Dry Creek Church of God.

Talmadge was a farmer at heart.  He enjoyed raising corn and tobacco and cutting wood. Although age prevented him from doing this all his life, he enjoyed raising his own food in his garden.  He also enjoyed spending time with his grandson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Kidd Catron, who passed away on October 31, 2014, four brothers, Bennie Catron, Elbert Catron, William Catron and Glennis Catron and two sisters, Aileen Hampton and Grace Curtis.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda Burton of Morehead, his grandson, Byron Burton, of Los Angeles, California, three brothers, Dennis Catron and his wife, Evelyn and Randall Catron and his wife, Louise all of Sharkey and Chester Catron and his wife, Frances of Morehead, one sister, Janice Helterbrand of Haldeman and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Gary Madden and Brother Steve Madden officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Byron Burton, Jack Catron, Brandon Hatton, Chester Catron, Dennis Catron, Randall Catron, Dewayne Kidd and Clinton Curtis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Catron, Duane Catron, Jeff Catron, Shannon Catron, Jimmy Hampton, Larry Hampton and Nelson Hatton.
