Mr. Sidney Dale Lewis, 63, of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, formerly of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Inpatient Hospice Unit in Florida.
He was born on November 18, 1949 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of Sidney Clay Lewis and the late Elva Lorene Richardson Lewis.
Dale attended Elliottville and Clearfield Elementary Schools and three years at Rowan County High School, moving his senior year to Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Dale stayed on at the University and worked for 17 years in the chemistry department.
In 1988, he moved to Pennsylvania and started working for Merck, doing research and developing new prescription drugs. Dale was a Senior Research Chemist at Merck. He had several patents pending.
He retired in October of 2011 and moved to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elva Lorene Richardson Lewis, who passed away on January 2, 2000.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Meyers Lewis, whom he married on September 16, 1986, one son, Nicholas, a senior in high school, his father, Sidney Clay Lewis of Clearfield, two step-sons, Jason of Bourland, Michigan and Chris and his wife, Stephanie of Bourland, Michigan and two sisters, Cloma Bowlin of Springport, Indiana and Janet Butcher and her husband, James of Clearfield.
