Samuel C. Phipps, a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend to many passed away July 24, 2024, in Morehead, Kentucky. He was born in the small town of Cannel City on April 6, 1941, and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever be cherished by those who knew him.
Sam was preceded in death by his loving parents, Elbert and Connie Phipps, and wife Sandy Clayton.
Samuel’s life was filled with love for his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Phipps of DeGraff, Ohio, five brothers, Lark Phipps and Lynn (Judy) Phipps both of Cannel City, Kentucky, Van (Cathy) Phipps of Paris, Kentucky, Donald (Jolene) Phipps and Mark (Kim) Phipps of West Liberty, Kentucky. Six sisters, Betty (Alton) Mills and Cheryl Ratliff both of Verona, Kentucky, Marcy (Phillip) Charles and Linda (Franklin) Franklin both of Winchester, Kentucky and Peggy Phipps and Barbara Shields both of Lexington, Kentucky. Two granddaughters, Jordan (Andrew) Schaub and Madison Honeycutt, step-grandson, Nate Clayton, three great-grandchildren, MaryJane Honeycutt, Tucker Schaub and Rhiannon Honeycutt and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends - all whom he loved dearly.
Throughout his life Samuel found joy in the simple pleasures such as golfing with friends or tending to his garden. His passion for fishing took him to serene waters where he could find peace among nature’s beauty. These activities brought him immense happiness which he shared generously with those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held August 10, 2024 at 1 pm, at Franklin Farms located at 3344 McClure Road in Winchester, Kentucky where family and friends will gather to honor Samuel’s memory.
The loss felt from Samuel’s passing is immeasurable but the memories we hold dear are everlasting. His spirit lives on through the laughter shared during family gatherings or the stories told about adventures on the golf course or by the water’s edge.
As we mourn our loss, let us also celebrate Sam’s remarkable life - one that touched so many hearts leaving an incredible mark upon this world.
