Ruth Porter
July 15, 1906 — February 22, 2011
Mrs. Ruth Waddell Porter, 104, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at her residence.
She was born in Elliott County, Kentucky on July 15, 1906, a daughter of the late Merida and Mary Sublett Waddell.
Mrs. Porter retired as manager of the Spinning Wheel Fabric Shop. She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God and she enjoyed quilting and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ross S. Porter, who passed away on October 24, 1983, two brothers, Merida Waddell and Everett Waddell and two sisters, Martha Wilson and Mae Reeves.
Survivors include one son, Elwood Talmadge Waddell, Sr. and his wife, Mary of Grayson, Kentucky, one daughter, Marcella Porter Amburgey and her husband, John of Findlay, Ohio, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 28, 2011 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Hutchinson and Greg Amburgey officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Greg Amburgey, E. T. Waddell, Jr., Larry Waddell, David Waddell, John Hunt, Johnathan Amburgey, Jesse Waddell and Raymond Waddell, Sr.
