Mrs. Betty Ruth Zornes Hogge, Age 77 of Cranston Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington after a brief illness.
She was born February 8, 1934 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Leslie and Pheba Creswell Zornes.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elder Irvin L. Hogge, her son Clyde Hayes and a brother Kenneth Zornes.
She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church and a member of the Rowan County Democratic Executive Board Committee for 15 years and was the Pine Grove Precinct Chairwoman for nearly 40 years. She also served as a member of the Hogge Cemetery Association. She was an advocate for the homeless and needy families of the area and enjoyed helping others.
Her greatest joy was her family, particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Hayes Hawkins of Morehead, Kentucky, Shawani Hogge Kaiser of Springboro, Ohio and Sandi Hogge Whitaker of Morehead, Kentucky. Three brothers, Leroy (Faye) Zornes of Morehead, Kentucky, Ralph (Molly) Zornes and Roscoe (Sandy) Zornes of Bucyrus, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Amy Hawkins-Nickell, Jarred Hayes, Austin Hayes, Amanda Hayes-Ison, Sarah Kaiser, Michelle Kaiser, Joey Kaiser, Stormi Long-Jessee and Shelby Long. Four Great-Grandchildren Caden Lee Nickell, Caleb Lucas Nickell, Cameron Nickell and Landon Jessee. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Elder Paul Trautner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Hogge Cemetery at Cranston.
Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Austin Hayes, Jarrod Ison, Joey Kaiser, Rick Hawkins, Jamey Jessee and Steve Francis and honorary pallbearers will be Caden Nickell, Tim Long, Jarred Hayes and Matt Kaiser.
