Rufus H. Flannery, 86, of Bull Fork Road, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2008 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Rowan County, Kentucky on August 23, 1922, a son of the late Lonnie and Martha Alderson Flannery.
Mr. Flannery was a farmer. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during World War II and he was a member of the Siloam First Church of God. Rufus lived on the same farm, where he was born and raised, all of his life. He enjoyed bird hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Coldiron Flannery who passed away on December 23, 2007, six brothers, Ray Flannery, Delmar Flannery, Virgil Flannery, Leonard Flannery, Bertus Flannery and Woodrow Flannery and five sisters, Bessie Gilkison, Rose Carpenter, Gladys Lacy, Pruda Shay and Beulah Dillon.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, November 23, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Albert McCalvin and Dean Tiller officiating. Burial will follow in the Siloam Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 4:00 P.M. Saturday.
Pallbearers will be all his nephews.
