Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Caudill Wells, 90, of Morehead, passed away Monday morning, June 4, 2012 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
She was born on February 2, 1922 at Waltz, Kentucky in Rowan County.
She was the 15th of 16 children born to the late Tilden Hendricks and Rebecca Ann Caudill.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest Eli Wells on September 3, 2001, whom she married on September 24, 1937.
She was also preceded in death by eight sisters, Maude Tackett, Carrie Anderson, Nellie Compton, Bessie Caudill (Infant), Ina Caudill (Infant), Nina Gearhart, Tina Hall and Sabra Goble Irby and seven brothers, Arlie Caudill, Fred Caudill, Claude Caudill, Clyde Caudill, Clester Caudill, Nelson Caudill and Wilburn "Woody" Caudill.
Ruby was a Christian and of the Baptist Faith.
She worked for Cowden Manufacturing, Chumley Shoes and retired as manager of Judy's Children's Store.
Ruby loved to cook and enjoyed gardening and canning. She was especially known for her chicken and dumplings, pickled corn and her fresh apple cakes that she made for her neighbors.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Wells and Bobby (Erna Gay) Wells all of Morehead, three daughters, Judy (L. J.) Caskey of Morehead, Rosemary McKenzie of Shelbyville and Connie (Mark) Wilder of West Liberty, six grandchildren, Stephanie Wells, Kim Wilder, Angie (David) Huff, Les Caskey, Steve (Karyn) McKenzie, Chris (Kim) Caskey, five great-grandchildren, Matthew Huff, Austin Huff, Elizabeth McKenzie, Michael McKenzie and Connor Caskey, a special friend, Terry McKenzie of Morehead and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Stone, Dr. Jack Ellis and Rev. Allan Hutchinson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.
Visitation is after 4:00 P.M. Tuesday.
Casket bearers will be L. J. Caskey, Terry McKenzie, Steve McKenzie, Les Caskey, Chris Caskey, David Huff, Matthew Huff and Austin Huff and honorary casket bearers will be Stephanie Wells, Angie Huff, Kim Wilder, Mark Wilder, Bill Hurst, Kathy Newman, Wayne Johnson, nieces and nephews and staff of Life Care Center, Morehead.
