Ruby Stamper

Mrs. Ruby (“Granny”) Oldfield Stamper, 89, of Morehead, passed away Monday, December 24, 2018 at the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born on August 9, 1929 in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Curt and Molly Oldfield.

Mrs. Stamper was retired from Morehead State University, where she had 28 years of service.

Granny loved to be with her family and enjoyed cooking, cleaning, canning and flowers.  She was the anchor that held an amazing family in place.

She was of the Church of God faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Stamper, one son, Tommy Stamper, five sisters, Anna Lawson, Thelma Grigsby, Alma Stamper, Pearl Fairchild and Mary McFarland and two sons-in-law, Tom Cox and Gary Thomas Sr.

Survivors include one brother, John Oldfield of Middletown, Ohio, her children, Geri Cox of Franklin, Ohio, Harlan “Buck” Stamper (Danica “Donna”) of Morehead, Patricia Gardner (Gary) of Morehead, Joy Prather (Perry) of Morehead and Connie Thomas of Morehead, twelve grandchildren, Tara Taylor (Chad), Toby Gardner (Crystal), Tommy Wes Prather (Carla), Gary Thomas Jr. (Abby), Amy Thomas Zimmerman, Duane Cox (Ronda), Sherry Cash, Ben Cox, Katy Stamper, Misty Prather, David Zimmerman and Josh Reid, eighteen great-grandchildren, Wes, Ethan, Zack, Eli, Doug, Tabor, Taylor, Gage, Kayley Jo, Charley Ann, Maddy, Harlan, Kash, Perri Jo, Adam, Hannah, Tyler and Bradley, one great-great-grandson, Timmy and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2018 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is after 10:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
