Ronnie Clinton Lewis, 69, of Elliottville, Kentucky passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on July 10, 1937 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Curtis E. and Lucy Lambert Lewis.
Clinton graduated from Morehead High School, attended Morehead College, worked for a short time in Michigan, and went into Service. He served at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland and was with B Company 124th Ordnance at Fort Hood, Texas where he qualified as a competitive sharp-shooter, winning several trophies. After Service, he was needed in the general merchandise store in Elliottville, where he helped his parents until they retired and then he managed it until he had to retire because of health problems. He was saved September 1987 and was proud to be a member of the Elliottville Baptist Church. As his health improved, he became a "fixture" at the summer church softball league, playing until last summer, almost making his goal of playing until he was 70 years old.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Lencil Eugene Lewis who passed away on August 18, 1998, Winford Eldean Lewis who passed away on August 7, 2006 and Alton Lewis who passed away on April 13, 1939.
Survivors include one sister, Juanita Marlene Turner of Elliottville, two sisters-in-law, Laura Lewis of Morehead and Iloma Lewis of Sunman, Indiana and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Clinton was married and divorced three times and there were no children.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 23, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Donald Lewis, Dan Turner, Ricky Manns, Clayton Lewis, Denver Lewis and Vernon Lewis.
