Rodney Gordon

Mr. Rodney Gordon, Age 75 of 725 West Sun Street - Morehead, passed away Saturday morning, December 26, 2009 at his home.

He was born November 8, 1934 in Emmett, Idaho to the late Dorris L. and Marjorie Spoor Gordon.

Rodney was retired from the United States Army after 24 years of service, 19 of which were with the Special Forces and 5 Years at Morehead State University, where he taught Military Science. He was a National Lumber Inspector and had worked 14 years for the National Hardwood Lumber Association. After retirement he continued to work at Fin, Fur and Feather near Cave Run Lake.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654, American Legion Post 126 and El Hasa Shrine Temple.

He enjoyed fishing and was a people person who enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Survivors include his wife Erika S. Gordon, One son, Doug Hopson and his wife Lesa of Clearfield. One Sister, Lyndell Gordon of Frankfort, Kentucky and two grandchildren, Chelsea Hopson and Tanner Hopson who lovingly called him Opa.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Bishop Ted Marshall officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation is after 4:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Masonic Rites by Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 will be conducted at 7:30 P.M. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Contributions are suggested to a favorite charity.
