Mr. Robert Eldon Roe, 88, of Elliottville, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at his home.
He was born on February 11, 1929 in Gimlet, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Lula Skaggs Roe.
Mr. Roe had owned and operated Roe Grocery Store for 32 years. He was a farmer and had also worked for Ford Motor Company.
He had been a long-time member of the Beartown United Baptist Church and most recently a member of the Brushy Fork United Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing, all kinds of hunting, especially coon hunting, woodworking, building, farming, raising tobacco, bluegrass music, riding his Ranger across the farm, spending time with his grandchildren and visiting and talking with his friends and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Daniel Roe, two daughters, Susan Earlene Roe and Sandra Lynn Roe, son-in-law, Bill Dameron, daughter-in-law, Glenda Roe Riley, five brothers, Glen Roe, Carl D. Roe, Edgar Roe, Charles Roe and Noah Roe and one sister, Murrel Perkins.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Gillum Roe, of Elliottville, one son, Gary Edward Roe (Nova) of West Liberty, two daughters, Theresa L. Bell (Randy) of San Antonio, Texas and Pamela M. Dameron of Lebanon, Ohio, two brothers, Franklin Roe of Ypsilanti, Michigan and Garland Roe (Geraldine) of Lexington, two sisters, Doreen Eldridge (Tommy) of Hamilton, Ohio and Marie Reffett (Ben) of Union City, Indiana, nine grandchildren, Becky, Lydia, Tabitha, Joanna, Andy, Sharlet, Shelby, Christy and Kathryn, eight great-grandchildren, Braden, Sierra, Mykal, Molly, Briley, Cierra, Calin and Bailey and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2017 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead.
Burial will follow in the Roe Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jon Snowden, Chris Marcum, Roy Slone, Jimmy Hale, Bill Courtney, Jack Catron and Cliff Gilliam and honorary pallbearers will be all of his neighbors.
Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.
