Richard Donald "Rick" Barker, 68 of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Friday, April 5, 2024, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead. He was born May 10, 1955, in Maysville, Kentucky to the late Herbert and Emma Jean Adkins Barker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John Barker and Tommy Barker.
Rick was a retired Pallet broker and most recently had been employed by Kroger of Morehead. He was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed all sports including the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kentucky Wildcats. He enjoyed spending time with his family and especially enjoyed family get-togethers.
He always enjoyed his visits with his great-granddaughter Karsynn who was very special to him.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Lucy Brown. Two sons: Cameron Barker of Lexington, Kentucky and Jalen Barker of Georgetown, Kentucky. One daughter, Rileigh Jo Barker of Georgetown. Three brothers: Jeff (Luana) Barker and Randy (Connie) Barker all of Morehead and Rob (Ashley) Barker of Knoxville, Tennessee. Two sisters: Debbie (Steve) Davis and Jeanetta (Jerry) Coldiron all of Morehead. Lucy's daughters: Melissa Keeys of Floyd, Kentucky and Michelle Crose of Morehead. A sister-in-law, Lois Barker, Aunts: Helen Landreth, Gertrude Adkins and May Lou Adkins. Two uncles: Woodie Barker and Larry Adkins. Two great-granddaughters: Karsynn and Gwen. Also, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2024, in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Mark Caldwell and Rev. Andy Lands officiating.
Burial will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery on Coldiron Hollow in Morehead.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is from Noon until the hour of the service on Tuesday.
Pall bearers will be Josh Barker, Danny Ellis, Marty Crose, Dustin Barker, Casey Barker, Connor Barker, Hunter Crose and Ryan Glover. Honorary pall bearers will be Jalen Barker and Cameron Barker.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the funeral home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
