Rebekah Roberts, of Winchester, Kentucky, passed away on Friday evening, March 13th, 2020.
Bekah had a passion for the nature and studied at Hocking College in Ohio and continued her education at Eastern Kentucky University where she earned her Bachelor’s in Wildlife Management.
Her career pursuits eventually led her to a job at historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill where she was able to combine her strong passions for history, writing, nature and education. At Shaker Village, she researched historic journals and genealogy, tended to farm animals and she also wrote programs for Shaker Village, blog entries, and interpreted history to guests.
She had so many hobbies: hiking, spelunking, writing, going to concerts, and traveling being among them. She was also a voracious reader and enjoyed writing. She authored a book titled The Granny Witch Apprentice, which is a historical fiction inspired by her connection to her Appalachian roots in Kentucky.
Bekah served as a bright beacon in so many lives; who sparked joy upon first meeting and conversation; whose smile could light up the night; she had the mind of an explorer, the will of a warrior, resolve of a philosopher and heart of a poet.
Although she was raised in Southwest Ohio, she claims Kentucky as her home and a tree will be planted in her family’s cemetery in Eastern Kentucky as a memorial to her.
She is survived by everyone who knew her; her parents Lucy & Tim Roberts; her brother Asa and his wife Katie; William Bush (her intended) and his daughter Melody; her sister-from-another-mister, Laura Murphy and #squad (you know who you are!); her dog, Dexter, and cats Oscar and Bella.
