Mrs. Phyllis Porter Royse, 74, of U.S. 60 East, Morehead, passed away Wednesday evening April 24, 2013 at her home after an extended illness.
She was born on April 6, 1939 in Charleston, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Earl and Nona Mabry Porter.
Mrs. Royse was of the Church of God faith and was a former employee of Morehead State University and the Mushroom Mines in Olive Hill.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Versal Royse, who passed away in 1978, two sons, James A. "Bo" Royse and Talmadge Porter, three brothers, Russell Porter, William Porter and Roger Porter and three sisters, Barb Garten, Deloris G. Pickett and Ottie Marie Porter.
Survivors include one son, Versal Royse, Jr. of Morehead, three daughters, Janet Sue (James Michael) Madden and Melinda Lawhorn both of Morehead and Priscilla (Keith) Thompson of Columbus, Ohio, one brother, Johnny (Margie) Porter of Olive Hill, two sisters, Janet Harris of Olive Hill and Lois Garten of Tennessee, sixteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Elijah Wagoner officiating.
Burial will follow in the Williams-Turner Cemetery at Elliottville.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Justin Trent, Austin Trent, Brady Madden, Michael Madden, Versal Royse, Chris Royse and Devin Maze.
