Paul Gary Hays

Paul Gary Hays, 73, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was born on January 30, 1952 in Barberton, Ohio, a son of the late Benjamin K. and Guthrie Horton Hays. 

Paul was a retired electrician having worked for Ball Aluminum and was also a rental property manager and a United States Navy Veteran.

He was a 1970 graduate of Rowan County High School and a member of the Rodburn Church of God and the Masonic Lodge.

Paul was a history buff, who enjoyed World War II documentaries and he also enjoyed motorcycles, video games, everything about airplanes and spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Edward Hays.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Hays and William Letson both of Kansas City, Missouri, his best friend, Louise Strange, three brothers, Mark A. Hays (Sharon) of Cleveland, Tennessee, James H. Hays of Washington and John Q. Hays (Shari) of Morehead, granddaughter, Emily Drake and several nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, February 24, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Roger Cummings and Brother Jerry Arbaugh officiating. 

Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post 126.

Burial will follow in the Horton Family Cemetery in Sandy Hook, Kentucky.

Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Hays, Dillon Horton, Luther Horton, John Hays, Bill Letson and Benjamin Edward Hays.
