Owen "Doc" Gray

Mr. Owen "Doc" Gray, 83 of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday morning at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an extended illness.

He was born in Elliott County, Kentucky on February 22, 1936 to the late Willie Gray and Kansas Hampton Stamper.

Doc was a well known mechanic in the area having worked at several tractor dealerships, The Homer Gregory Company and Monarch Supply. He also did small engine repair on lawnmowers and did construction work and farming. He was a Christian and enjoyed working.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Blankenbeckler Gray and  four brothers, Ernest, Austin, Jerry and Elwood.

Survivors include one son, Terry Alan Gray and his wife Leslie of Morehead, One daughter, Sandra Kitt of Morehead. a half brother Wendell Dale Stamper of Columbus, Ohio, three grandchildren, Christopher Kitt, Brandon Gray and Brittany Hartman, two step-grandsons, Austin Wright (Katelin) and Dustin Wright, Two Great-grandchildren, Kaden and Maci and one step-great-grandson, Tucker.  Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 19, 2019 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead. Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery in Elliott County.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 11:00 A.M. Tuesday.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
