Olive Parker

Olive Myrtle Cox Parker, 88, of Christy Creek Road passed away Sunday, November 25, 2007 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Holly Fork Road.

She was born on March 31, 1919 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James Edward Cox and Mary Conn Cox.

Mrs. Parker and her husband owned and operated Parker's Grocery on Christy Creek for 20 years and she was a former employee of Cowden's Manufacturing Company. She was a member of the Church of God and enjoyed raising flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carmel Burnis Parker who passed away on December 20, 1986, one son, Lonnie Steven ("Steve") Parker who passed away on October 2, 2007, four brothers, Arlen Cox, Orville Cox, Johnny Cox and Elijah Cox and two sisters, Arminta ("Mint") Cox Binion and Feril Cox Holbrook.

Survivors include one daughter, Phyllis June Parker Glover and her husband, George of Morehead, daughter-in-law, Donna Parker of Morehead, one brother, Arthur Cox and his wife, Barbara of Morehead, three sisters, Hazel Cox Brammer of Morehead, Goldie Richardson and her husband, Gene of Portsmouth, Ohio and Eunice Dubuisson of Hershey, Pennsylvania, four grandchildren, Eugene Glover, Kevin Parker and Sarah Glover all of Morehead and Ricky Glover of Montgomery, West Virginia, eight great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Rex Seagraves and Brother Bob Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation is after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Eugene Glover, Ricky Glover, Kevin Parker, Joseph Simms, Jeremy Glover and John Hanson and honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Bowling and Dickie Blair.
