Melvena Wheeler
January 29, 1931 — May 9, 2008
Melvena Kegley Wheeler was born in Elliott County, Kentucky on January 29, 1931.
She went home to be with her Lord on Friday, May 9, 2008, from her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the widow of the late Jay Wheeler. They were married for 43 years. Jay passed away on December 16, 1994.
Melvena and Jay didn't have any children, but had Boo and Bah-Bo her cats which she loved dearly. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Jack, Junior, James and Roscoe Kegley.
Melvena enjoyed working in her flowers and garden. She also liked going to the Flea Market every Saturday to fellowship with her friends there.
During her last illness Melvena was cared for by her sisters Lorene and Audrey.
She is survived by four sisters; Lorene Duty of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Audrey Mayse and her husband Roy of Elliottville, Kentucky, Jean McCormick of Sandy Hook, Kentucky and Lena Ratliff of Morehead, Kentucky. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 6:00 P.M. Sunday.
