Melissa Johnson

Melissa Dawn Johnson, Age 42 of Elliottville, passed away Friday morning, August 10, 2018 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Morehead, Kentucky on January 13, 1976 the daughter of Stanley and Rita Gilliam Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Miranda Sue "Doc" Johnson on July 1, 2007 and her paternal grandparents, Langley and Avis Johnson and maternal grandparents, Troy and Gladys Gilliam.

Melissa was of the Church of God faith,  a graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and was a true blue,  University of Kentucky Basketball fan. She loved  country and bluegrass music and enjoyed singing and watching CMT.

Survivors include her parents, Stanley and Rita Gilliam Johnson of Elliottville, one brother, Brandon Johnson of Elliottville and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Also, her special caregivers, Leslie Stevens, aka "Miss Belle" and Kitty Redden.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Monday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in the Johnson Family Cemetery in Elliottville.

Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 6:00 P.M. Sunday.

Pall bearers will be Glen Quesinberry, John Skaggs, Donald Skaggs, Dr. Brad Baker, Dakota Prince and Dr. David Sindler. Honrary pall bearers will be all of of her uncles.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. Claire Regional Medical Center, 222 Medical Circle, Morehead, Kentucky 40351.
