MaryEtta Wilson Maze

MaryEtta Wilson Maze, of Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Pam in Wellington, Kentucky.

She was born on February 6th in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles Herbert Wilson and Netta Susan Adkins Wilson.

MaryEtta was a member of the Bluebank First Church of God and she belonged to the Crocheting and Knitting for Kids Club.

She enjoyed working in crafts and making jewelry and quilts. MaryEtta wrote songs, poems, short stories and a novel. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Maze, who passed away in 2004, two brothers, Roy Wilson and Charles Herbert Wilson, Jr., a granddaughter, Alissa Larua Mabry and a step-grandson, Chad Beagle.

Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Susan Young (Bobby) of Foster, Kentucky and Pamela Dianne Sorrell (Jerry Lee) of Wellington, two sons, Michael Rex Maze (Lydia) of Means, Kentucky and Timothy Paul Maze of Salt Lick, Kentucky, seven grandchildren, Travis Lee Maze and Johnathan Wayne Maze both of West Liberty, Kentucky, Samuel William Sorrell (Michelle) of Morehead, Toby Lee Sorrell (Kimberly) of Bryson City, North Carolina, Joshua Brett Sorrell (Danielle) of Wellington, Robert Nathaniel Bradford (Rachel) of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and Tamra Renea Maze Williamson (Paul) of Ironton, Ohio, two step-grandchildren, Zach Sturgill (Allison) and Zephan Sturgill, twelve great-grandchildren, Skyler Dylan Sorrell, Phoenix Atticus Sorrell, Oliver Maverick Sorrell, Austin Maze, Autumn Maze, Sarah Maze, Tierra Maze, Kennedy Maze, Devin Maze, Jabese Lawson, Hunter Maze and Gunner Maze and four step-great-grandchildren, Zyler Sturgill, Zylie Sturgill, Zaylen Sturgill and Madelyn Campbell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 9, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Jeff Fannin officiating.

Burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Elliott County, Kentucky. 

Visitation is after 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jon Maze, Travis Maze, Tim Garvin, Sam Sorrell, Josh Sorrell, Toby Sorrell and Nathan Bradford.
