Martin Starr Jenkins, 73, of Lexington, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at his residence.
He was born on July 25, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Medford and Rosa Mynhier Jenkins.
Mr. Jenkins ran his business, Jenkins Fuel and Gas in Richmond for many years. He retired from Fayette County Schools, where he was a bus driver. Martin also retired from the Boston Road Kroger after 17 years of service and was working there part time at his death.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers, including Ralph Jenkins and Charles W. Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene Jenkins, son, Derrick Jenkins, daughter, Lisa (Dan) Dixon all of Lexington, four granddaughters, Heather Waldrop (Nate) Cope of Berea, Hannah Dixon of Paducah, Hayley Dixon of Lexington and Jade Jenkins of Nicholasville, grandson, Grant Jenkins of Nicholasville, two great-grandsons, Hayden Cope and Austin Cope of Berea, four brothers, Fred (Nancy) Jenkins and Mike (Sandy) Jenkins all of Clearfield, Richard (Diana) Jenkins and Anthony Jenkins all of Morehead, three sisters, Juanita (Wilbert) Crager, Phyllis (Clyde) Sluss and Marion Barber all of Morehead and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Martin was a hard working man who loved to travel and spend lots of time with his children and grandchildren. He was a sweet generous man loved by everyone who met him.
Celebration of life will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Milward – Man O’ War Funeral Home in Lexington.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Thursday at Milward – Man O’ War Funeral Home, 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington, KY.
