Margaret Belle Elam Ferguson of Morehead, KY entered her eternal home on May 7, 2022. Born in 1939 in West Liberty, KY, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Lorena Elam.
She is survived by her doting husband of 57 years, John N. Ferguson, affectionately known as Jay; a sister/best friend, Beverly Elam O’Bannon (Terry O’Bannon), and her boochie boy, Mathew Dickens; and a host of nieces and nephews that adored her.
Margaret loved to socialize, travel, dine, dance, pull pranks, shop, and watch wildlife. She enjoyed hunting shark’s teeth, seashells, blackberries, and yard sales. She delighted in being surrounded by fresh flowers, art, and Mickey Mouse knickknacks. She had a passion for British comedies, reading, and embarrassing those she loved.
She fondly spoke of her days as Vice President of MKIT, teaching Sunday School, working for Mountain Rural, MSU, and time as Morehead Police Court Clerk.
Margaret made memorable impressions on everyone she met. She was fortunate to spend the past year with the excellent staff of Elliott County Nursing and Rehabilitation where she was treated as the queen she was.
Margaret will be remembered as a true patriot of the United States of America, a Kentucky Belle that left us on Derby Day, and a true LADY that loved deeply and laughed heartedly.
