Madge Cornett Mayo, 87, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Baptist Health in Lexington.
She was born on February 7, 1935 in Knott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Bill and Malissa Combs Cornett.
Mrs. Mayo was a retired schoolteacher and she was a member of the Morehead First Church of God, where she had taught Sunday school.
Madge was a University of Kentucky fan and she enjoyed birds, flowers, sports and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Mayo, four brothers, Brode Cornett, Coney Cornett, Scott Cornett and Bill Cornett, Jr., six sisters, Mildred Risner, Lola Faye Jones, Lake Cooper, Grace Amburgey, Lenore Cornett and Mabel Smith and one infant sibling.
Survivors include her son, John Mayo (Krista) of Lexington, Kentucky, one daughter, Kim Barnard of Frankfort, Kentucky, one brother, Bernie Cornett (JoAnn) of Lexington, Kentucky, grandchildren, Alexandra Smith, Abby Smith, Rauri Barnard, Jonathan Mayo, William Mayo, Alexander Mayo and Peyton Mayo all of Lexington and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and burial will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Caudill Cemetery at Sharkey with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating.
There is no visitation.
