Lucille Malear

Lucille Turner Whitaker Malear, 97, of Aberdeen Dr., Richmond, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at her home.

She was born in Madison Co., Ky., on May 28, 1911, the daughter of Bourbon and Mary Alice Hughes Turner. She attended Cottonburg and Kirksville Schools and graduated from Eastern Ky. University with a B. S. Degree in education. She taught school in Madison County for 39 years. She was a member of the Salem Christian Church and the widow of Garnett Whitaker and Harold Malear. Her hobbies included fishing and crocheting.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Starnes Wells, of Richmond; two granddaughters, Peggy (Ray) Wardlaw, of Crawford, CO and Dana Starnes, of Richmond; 4 Great-grandchildren, Shawn (Tina) Cruse, of Danville, Angie (Brett) Tinch, of Hotchkiss, CO; Brian Barger, of Morehead and Randi (Jason) Hackney, of Grayson; 4 Great-great grandchildren, Gabe, Garner, Zoe and Noah; 4 Step great-grandchildren, Christal (Roger) Browning, of Lexington, Tony (Pam) Wardlaw, of Wasilla, AK, Debbie (Kurt) Schilder, of Georgetown and Bonnie Gibbs, of Richmond; 7 Step great-great grandchildren, Tiffany, Brittany, Elizabeth, Courtney, Claire, Catherine and Eric; 1 niece, Roberta Hendricks and 1 nephew, Nelson (Mary Lou) Cox

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ethel Cates and Elma Cox.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Johny Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the Richmond Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-9 PM Friday at the Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Cruse, Brian Barger, Ray Wardlaw, Nelson Cox, Robbie Click, Billy Lee Hendren, Brett Tinch, Charles Benton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Harvey Tudor, Harry Don McBride, Doug Howard, John Jackson, Earl Dean Jones, Jr., Emmitt Long, Jr., Eddie Wayne McBride, Cecil Dean Scrivner, Bobby Scrivner, Tommy Little.
