Lottie Marie ("Dottie") Scaggs Lewis, 91, of Clearfield passed away Thursday, July 26, 2007 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.

Dottie was born on July 9, 1916 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William L. ("Will") and Arvillie Crum Lambert. She grew up at the head of Dry Creek.

Many may remember Dottie as "The Avon Lady." She also sold nursery stock for Stark Brothers Nurseries and was a former employee of Cowden Manufacturing Company. Most of her life was spent on the Scaggs family farm off Route 173, raising cattle and chickens, hay, fruits and vegetables. She attended the Fraley Chapel Church and enjoyed raising a garden and working outside. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Murvel Scaggs, who passed away on October 5, 2003, an infant daughter, four brothers, James A. Lambert, John Lambert, Dock Lambert and Sidney Lambert and six sisters, Lucy Lewis, Ardelia Clark, Ethel Stamper McBrayer, Jessie Caskey, Hettie Berdar and Verna Quesinberry.

Survivors include her husband, Sidney Clay Lewis of Clearfield, step-children, Cloma Bowlin and her husband, James Wilburn of Springport, Indiana, Janet Butcher and her husband, James of Clearfield and Dale Lewis and his wife, Debra of Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania, one sister, Bessie Lambert of Clearfield and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 28, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Gayle Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Scaggs-Harr Cemetery on Oak Grove Road. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
