Mr. Lawrence E. Pennington, 72, of Christy Creek Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky, with his daughter, Georgina and son-in-law, Dewey by his side.
He was born on May 20, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Hodgins and Georgia Fraley Pennington.
Lawrence was a retired self-employed businessman and a United States Marine Veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Nascar racing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters, Georgina Pennington Reed and her husband, Dewey of Morehead, Arlinda Pennington Stevens and her husband, Brandon of Arizona and Chasity Pennington of Sandy Hook, four grandchildren, Lawrence Anthony Dakota Stevens, Adelinda Stevens, Dewey Reed and Matthew Fannin, one great-grandchild expected in February and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 18, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Willie Sturgill officiating.
Burial with full military honors by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will be in the Fraley Cemetery at Elliottville.
Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Dewey Reed, Lawrence Anthony Dakota Stevens, Jack Roe, Phillip Jent, Roger Trent and C. J. Baker and honorary pallbearers will be Bob Kegley, Edward Kidd, Dewey Taylor Reed, Matthew Fannin and Chester Boyd.
