Laura Ivalee Shelton

Laura Ivalee Crawford Shelton, 92, of Clearfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Ridgeway Nursing and Rehabilitation in Owingsville, Kentucky.

She was born on March 1, 1931 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late William and Lula Jones Crawford.

Mrs. Shelton was a seamstress having worked at Cowden’s Manufacturing for 16 years and she had also worked at St. Claire HealthCare.

She was a devoted Christian and a graduate of American Institute of Holy Land Studies.

She enjoyed quilting, playing the guitar, hiking, the outdoors, reading, flowers and traveling and she was an Heirloom seed saver.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Cassius Shelton, who passed away in 1989, four brothers, Murvil Crawford, Wayne Crawford, Clinton Crawford and Clella Crawford and one sister, Clara Hill.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Shelton of Winchester, Kentucky, one brother, Clarence Crawford and his wife, Melva and two sisters, Lucille Trent and her husband, Lee Roy and Rose Zell Perkins all of Morehead, Kentucky, three grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Thelma T. Oney and Betty Cutts officiating.

Burial will follow in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
