Farmers

Mr. Larry A. Stevens, 78, of Farmers, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2019 at his home after an extended illness.

He was born on November 26, 1940 in Farmers, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Lucille Scott Stevens.

Mr. Stevens was retired from Sherwin-Williams and was the former owner of Buckskin Camper Park.

He was of the Christian faith, active in the Farmers Area Development Club and the founder of the Simon Kenton Long Rifle Club.

Larry had a passion for restoring old cars and his garage was always open to his friends and neighbors.

He enjoyed genealogy and was an active collector, especially Western items.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his daughter, Bonnie and one brother, Donald Stevens.

Survivors include his wife, Ermine, his daughter, Lisa Dawn Wells and her companion, Scott of Benton, Kentucky, step-daughter, Latonya Hesterberg and her husband, Rick of Morehead, two step-sons, Troy Hogge and his wife, Suzanne of Salt Lick and Randy Jones and his wife, Marilyn of Benton, Kentucky, one brother, Roger Stevens and his wife, Marcella of Franklin, Ohio, one sister, Diana Stevens of Maryville, Tennessee and sister-in-law, Betty Stevens of Morehead.  Also, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who he loved dearly and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 26, 2019 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Mark Poston officiating.

Burial will follow in the Carey Cemetery.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chad Stevens, Landon Hogge, Logan Hogge, Tanner Hesterberg, Brooklyn Leep, Johnny Leep, Kyle Caudill and Rick Hesterberg.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leo Williams, Tom Woods, Gary Kissick, Billy Wages, Jack Howard and Roger Alcorn.

Contributions are suggested to the Farmers Area Development Club, C/O Perry Prather, 99 Mercantile Road, Morehead, Kentucky  40351 or the American Cancer Society.
