Mr. Larry Wayne Gregory, 61, of Clay City, Kentucky, formerly of Morehead, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington after an extended illness.
He was born on July 2, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky, a son of the late Mel Hyatt Gregory, Sr. and Audrey Fraley Gregory.
Mr. Gregory was a retired guard for the state and federal prison systems. He was a member of Powells Valley Church and enjoyed Bluegrass Music and genealogy. He was a member of the Jaycees and organized the first Bluegrass Concert sponsored by the Jaycees.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Grover Owens.
Survivors include his wife Mary Jewell Jennings Gregory, one son, Dale Gregory of Plummers Landing, one step-son, Ralph Owens of Clay City, two step-daughters, Tammy Owens (David Brown) of Morehead and Jeannie Nesbitt (Kenny Fraley) of Clay City, one brother, Mel (Joyce) Gregory, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, a very special aunt, Nellon Cranfield of LaGrange, four grandchildren, Sandra Brown, Tosha Brown, Brittany Allen and Britton Owens, five great-grandchildren and another one expected in April and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 26, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Ray Glover officiating.
Burial will follow in the Jennings Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Allen, Jr., Chris Harris, Kenny Fraley, Ralph Owens, Delbert Jennings and David Fraley and honorary pallbearers will be David Brown, Ricky Fraley and Timmy Hisle.
