Kenneth McKee Vencill II

Mr. Kenneth McKee Vencill II, 77, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 at St. Claire HealthCare.

He was born on July 17, 1941 in Morehead, Kentucky, a son of the late Kenneth McKee Vencill and Ruby Lillian Lewis Vencill.

Mr. Vencill was a retired Command Master Chief from the United States Navy, having 30 years of service achieving the highest rank of an enlisted person.  Kenny was stationed in Cuba, Italy and Hawaii.  He taught classes and authored an instructional manual used by the Navy for many years.

Kenny was the owner and operator of a Real Estate Information Service and he was a member of the Morehead First Church of God.

He graduated from Morehead State University, Summa Cum Laude and he enjoyed traveling all over the world, gardening, yard work, model boat building and visiting and talking to people.

Kenny was a Kentucky Colonel, helped organize the Rowan County Veterans Wall and was a member of the Retired Veterans.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kermit Lewis (“Sonny”) Vencill.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara White Vencill, whom he married on October 1, 1978, his daughter, Katrina Vencill Venters and her husband, William Edward Venters III of Pikeville, one grandson, William Edward Venters IV, his sister-in-law, Sue Vencill of Morehead, one nephew, Kermit Lewis Vencill II, one niece, Sarah Lynnette Vencill, one great-nephew, Hoke Hardin and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Dr. J. D. Reeder officiating.

Burial with full military honors will be in the Brown Cemetery.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Rose, William E. White, Eddie Venters III, Carl Lyons, Michael Price and Austin Johnson.

Honorary pallbearer will be William Edward Venters IV.

*Out of respect for Kenny's love of bright colors, the family has ask that those attending the funeral service wear something bright and colorful.
