John Mocabee

June 14, 1951 — July 27, 2012

Mr. John Willis Mocabee, 61, of Soldier, Kentucky, passed away Friday morning, July 27, 2012 in the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky.

He was born on June 14, 1951 in Soldier, Kentucky, a son of the late Mack Samuel and Beatrice Trumbo Mocabee.

John was a former employee of Cox Monument Company in Morehead and a United States Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith and an evangelist having pastored at several churches in the area and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and playing the guitar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Wendell Jeff Mocabee, William Dee Mocabee, Bobby Joe Mocabee and Charles Jack Mocabee and one sister, Maxine Conn.

Survivors include two sons, Dana (Sarah) Mocabee and Jonathan (Erin) Mocabee and one daughter, Beatrice Mocabee (James) Costigan all of Soldier, two brothers, Mack "Tom" Mocabee of Globe and Donald Mocabee of Ashland, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, July 29, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Robbie Puckett and Rex Seagraves officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will follow in the Trumbo Cemetery.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Dana Mocabee, Jonathan Mocabee, Sheldon Mocabee, Josh Mabry, Caleb Mabry and Davey Stallard and James Costigan will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
