Jerrold Wolford “Jerry” Calvert, Age 66 of Morehead passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
Jerry was born in Lexington, Kentucky on January 27, 1952 to the late John B and Joyce Wolford Calvert.
He was a lifelong member of the Morehead First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, A graduate of Morehead State University's Breckinridge Training School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Morehead State University. Jerry loved sports, he especially loved University of Kentucky Basketball.
Jerry was a true lover of life, people and having fun. He was a modern day Peter Pan who chose to stay forever young. Jerry was a true connoisseur of music. As the chairperson for MSU's entertainment committee, Jerry brought many bands to Morehead that went on to become super stars. Some of the bands he was integral in booking were Stevie Wonder, Linda Ronstadt and the Eagles. Before Google, Jerry was the go-to guy for music and entertainment trivia for friends and acquaintances. He had a vast memory and a sharp wit which he often served up with his trivia answers. Jerry was a person who always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. He will greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Kristin and son, Nicholas, as well as many cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Wayne Levy officiating.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Glen "Skip" Vencill, Stan Dixon, Doug Doerrfeld, Sam McKinney, Crosley Caudill, Doug Duncan, Kip Bennett, Carlton Duvall and Ben Ochsner.
