Mrs. Jannet L. Porter, 71, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in the Life Care Center after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on May 21, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Otis Clayton Caudill and Reba Mae DeHart Caudill.
Mrs. Porter was a homemaker. She was a member of the Soldier Church of God and enjoyed reading, sewing, working puzzles and crossword puzzles. Jannet volunteered many hours at the Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Grayson and was the recipient of the volunteer of the year award.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Caudill, who passed away on June 8, 1961.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ray Porter, whom she married on September 21, 1957, her daughter, Tina Porter Stafford of Olive Hill, two sisters, Linda Caudill of Morehead and Kathy Cox of Olive Hill and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 3, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Delmar Logan, Jr. and Rev. Terry Dean officiating.
Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Benny Caudill, Dickie Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Darrell Cox, Roger Parsons and David Hurley.
