James Allen Stevens, 55 of Hemlock View Road, Morehead, Kentucky passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his home after a brief fight with cancer. He was born in Morehead on November 16, 1965 to the late James Othar Stevens and Louise Bailey Stevens.
Allen was an employee of Trace Creek Construction and owned and operated Stevens and Sons Carpentry. He enjoyed working, hunting, the outdoors, grilling, cooking, traveling and family vacations.
Survivors include his wife Leslie Manning Stevens whom he married on March 30, 1998. Two sons, Alex Stevens of Lexington, Kentucky, Blake Stevens at home, three daughters, Ashley (Trent) Hamilton of Morehead, Traci (Zach) Vanderpool of Salt Lick, Kentucky and Kelsey (Thomas) Licon of Morehead. Three sisters, Kathy (Von) Kiser of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Vicki (Tony) DeHart and Lorie (Jeff) Callihan all of Morehead. Six grandchildren Boone Howard, Scout Howard, Ryleigh Licon, Hadleigh Licon, Bayleigh Licon and Kairen Vanderpool. His mother-in-law, Lottie King of Olive Hill, Kentucky, nieces and nephews, Chris (Rachel) Callihan, Sarah (Mark) Osborne, Katlyn Callihan, Makenzie Lucas, Levi Oney and Emma Carroll. One aunt, Delores Thomas, two uncles Ray Bailey and Stanley Stevens.
Also several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, October 25, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Andy Lands officiating.
Burial will follow in the King Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 6:00 pm Sunday.
Pall bearers will be Alex Stevens, Blake Stevens, Boone Howard, Jimmy Howard, Thomas Licon, Zach Vanderpool, James Crisp, Chris Callihan, Brady Smith, Ben McCoy and Donnie Stevens. Honorary pall bearers will be Levi Oney, Darold Bailey, Kenny Eldridge, Eddie Watson, Eddie DeHart and Roger Thomas.
