BURIAL: MAYS CEMETERY IN ELLIOTT COUNTY



Mr. James Ardith Mays, 64, of Flemingsburg, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 in the St. Joseph Hospital East in Lexington.

He was born on December 4, 1949 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Edward and Elsie Winkleman Mays.


Mr. Mays was retired from General Motors and was also a carpenter, farmer and logger.


He was a member of the West Carrollton Masonic Lodge #737 and he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, hunting, cooking, building and collecting Indian artifacts.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Boggs.


Survivors include his wife, Molly Cartwright Mays, whom he married on October 22, 1999, one son, James Michael Mays of Mt. Sterling, three daughters, Kenda (Tim) Forbes of Beavercreek, Ohio, Nicole (Eric) Hardin of Dayton, Ohio and Angie (Mark) Allen of Centerville, Ohio, two brothers, Chesley Mayse of Morehead and Edward (Nettie) Mays of Lakeview, Ohio, four sisters, Verna Sloan of Clearfield, Faye (Ardis) Linville of Dayton, Ohio and Darlene (Bob) Mynhier and Lois (John) Barker all of Morehead, six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many, many friends.


Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 9, 2014 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Brad Bennington officiating.


Burial will follow in the Mays Cemetery in Elliott County.


Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Masonic Rites by the Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654 will be conducted 7:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.


Contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or Shriners Hospital for Children.
