Hildreth Christian Kidd, 87, of Seas Branch Road passed away Sunday, May 27, 2007 in the Life Care Center.
She was born on November 30, 1919 in Haldeman, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Clella and Lizzie Barricks Christian.
Mrs. Kidd was a retired teacher and social worker. She was a teacher in Wolfe County and Pendleton County and at the Model Lab School at Eastern Kentucky University. Mrs. Kidd was a quality control analyst for the Kentucky Medicaid Program. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with an A.B. Degree, two Masters Degrees and a Rank I. Mrs. Kidd was a N.R.A. Kentucky Wildlife Firearms Instructor, an honorary life member of the Kentucky Geological Society having been a former Vice President, a member of the Rowan County Homemakers having been a Past President, Past Officer for the Rowan, Wolfe and Pendleton Fair Boards, served thirty-five years as a 4-H Leader, the recipient of the Morehead Lions Club Lady of the Year, served fifteen years on the Pendleton County Airport Board, was a member of the DAR and was of the Protestant Faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Kidd who passed away in 1970, one son, Nathaniel Kidd, one daughter, Rosa Lee Kidd, two brothers, Orville Christian and Andrew Jackson Christian who died in Korea and one sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and George McBrayer.
Survivors include one son, Andrew Kidd and his wife, Leva of Falmouth, six daughters, Kathleen Lewis and her husband, Ishmael of Covington, Hazel Davis and her husband, James Earl of Athens, Ohio, Patricia Hurt and her husband, Willie of Morehead, Marguerite Webb and her husband, David of Oil Springs, Dorothy Kidd of Butler and Bettina Kidd of Cherry Grove, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 29, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Christian Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Contributions are suggested to Hospice of your choice.
