Mr. Harold "Murph" Murphy, 84, of Rawcel Heights, Morehead, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington after an extended illness.
He was born on July 23, 1927 in Salyersville, Kentucky, a son of the late Curtis and Dora Allen Murphy.
Murph was a retired security guard for J. K. Smith. He was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Christian Church and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackylan Sue Benningfield, who passed away on April 13, 2001 and two brothers, Dudley Murphy and Ronald Earl Murphy.
Survivors include his wife, Gertrude "Tootie" Murphy, one son, Harold Edward "Eddie" Murphy of Winchester, one step-son, Brian Flannery of Morehead, one step-daughter, Lisa Flannery of Morehead, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, December 2, 2011 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. James DeAtley, Rev. Lloyd Dean and Philip Littleton officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Philip Littleton, Mickey Stevens, Darrell Ledford, Kyle Ledford, Jeff Patrick and Mike Gray and honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Mt. Pisgah Christian Church, Ralph Webb, Ronnie Collins and Bill Patrick.
