Gerald Barton, Sr

Mr. Gerald Runyon Barton, Sr., 71, of Wallingford, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2009 in the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.

He was born on February 21, 1938 in Fleming County, Kentucky, a son of the late Clarence and Hallie Zornes Barton.

Mr. Barton was a farmer and carpenter. He attended Pea Ridge Community Church and enjoyed fishing, camping, playing corn hole and taking care of his hummingbirds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathryn Gladys Barton, one brother, Billy Barton and one sister, Ruby Gray.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Johnson Barton, whom he married on September 7, 1957, two sons, Gerald Runyon (J. R.) Barton, Jr. and his wife, Tammy of Ewing and Gary Dwayne Barton of Foxport, one daughter, Virginia Lammrish and her husband, John of Ormond Beach, Florida, two brothers, Vernon Barton and Clay Barton both of Ewing, one sister, Nancy Staggs of Hamersville, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Dana Litzler and her husband, Travis, Kasey Lammrish, Tyler Lammrish, Brandy Rigdon and her husband, Josh, Heather Barton, Amy Barton and Justin Barton, three great-grandchildren, Charleigh Brook Litzler, Creighton Litzler and Kane Rigdon and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at the Boone-Nickell Funeral Home in Flemingsburg with Rev. James Ray Hickerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery. Visitation at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be J. R. Barton, Gary Barton, John Lammrish, Travis Litzler, Josh Rigdon and Ora Lee Davis.

Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is assisting with the funeral services for Mr. Gerald Runyon Barton, Sr.
