Georgie Harris

September 6, 1921 — April 5, 2012

Mrs. Georgie Lue Thomas Harris, 90, of Maxey Flats, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at her home after a long illness.

She was born on September 6, 1921 in Fleming County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ishmael and Lily Mae Pierce Thomas.

Mrs. Harris was a homemaker and a member of the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, canning, gardening, flowers and spending time with her family and church family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Omar Harris, two sons, Willard Harris and Paul Harris, two grandchildren, Amy Kenley and Gregory Harris, three brothers, Clarence Thomas, Roy Thomas and Johnny Thomas and three sisters, Cynthia Royse, Hattie Belle Royse and Ruby Rigdon.

Survivors include one son, William (Bill) Harris of Maxey Flats, one daughter, Kathy Graves of Mt. Sterling, eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Sharkey Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Brother James Ray Hickerson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Denton Cemetery.

Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.
