Garnet Carmoleda Kennedy Williams, 90, of Owingsville, Kentucky (where she resided with her daughter, Sherry, who took care of her for the last 7 years), passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Joseph Hospital in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky.
She was born on January 17, 1934 in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Estill and Hazel Maxine Swinford Kennedy.
Garnet was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Before becoming a wife and mother, she had worked in restaurants and at the sewing factory.
She got saved in 1999 and attended First Baptist Church in Grayson, Kentucky, where she enjoyed going for many years before her health began to decline. Even while her health was declining, she continued to keep her strong faith while praising the Lord for her many blessings.
Garnet cherished spending time with her family, especially over large holiday meals.
She will be deeply missed and always remembered for being so proud of her large family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Tommy Williams, two sons, Richard A. Williams and Chester Williams, two daughters, Karen J. Williams and Brenda K. Wade, one grandchild, Joanie E. Smith, three brothers, Charles Filmore Kennedy, Bobby Jake Kennedy and Billy Wayne Kennedy and one sister, Lavona June Kennedy.
Survivors include five sons, Donald Eugene Williams (Penny) of Cortland, Ohio, Paul Dennis Williams (Kimberly) of Williamsburg, Ohio, Thomas Martin Williams of Farmdale, Ohio, Phillip Neal Williams (Debbie) of Cortland, Ohio and Timothy Ray Williams (Michele) of Kinsman, Ohio, three daughters, Garnet Elizabeth Williams of Morehead, Kentucky, Sherry Ann Williams (Paul Griffey, Jr.) of Owingsville, Kentucky and Donna Ruth Williams Perry (Tom) of Grayson, Kentucky, sixteen grandchildren, Tanya, Laura, Lisa, Brian, Denny, Tiffany, Tony, Joseph, Shawn, J.C., Annabelle, Heather, Ashley, Zack, Courtney and Nick, twenty-three great-grandchildren, Maddie, Cole, Leo, Sophia, Sawyer, Layla, Breanna, Madison, Donovan, Courtland, Jordynn, Elam, Kyler, Kayleigh, Sierra, Landon, Ayden, Angela, Silas, Mya, NovaLee, Kennedy and Daniel, one sister, Wanda Elizabeth Kennedy Parker of Morehead, Kentucky, two brothers, Vernon Estill Kennedy of Columbus, Georgia and Darrell Douglas Kennedy of St. Marys, Ohio and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 15, 2024 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Randy Wagoner and Derek Sammons officiating.
Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery on Garvin Ridge in Carter County, Kentucky.
Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Zack Williams, Brian Williams, Joseph Williams, J.C. Smith, Nick Perry, Tony Williams and Heather McNabb.
