Franklin D. Cox, 72, of Catron Road passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at his residence.
He was born on May 6, 1934 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Willis and Missouri Nickell Cox.
Mr. Cox was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps and a Korean combat veteran of the First Marine Division. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, Sharonville, Ohio in 1994 after thirty-six years of service. Frank was a member of UAW Retired Workers 863, American Legion Post #0126 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Hillview Baptist Church in Hamilton, Ohio and he loved gardening and doing building projects on his farm.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clyde Cox, Leslie Cox, Arval Cox and Elijah Cox and five sisters, Goldie Workman, Mabel Brown, Phyllis Robertson, Julia Skaggs and Myrtle Shoemaker.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia McClain Cox, whom he married on June 12, 1954, of Morehead, one son, Larry Cox and his wife, Shon of Middletown, Ohio, one daughter, Melissa Cox of Cincinnati, Ohio, one brother, Lonnie Cox of Morehead, two sisters, Sadie Cundiff of Morehead and Virginia Ferguson of New York City, New York, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, Murphy.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 17, 2007 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. H. G. Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday.
